Feasting at Mama Fatma’s in Mississauga

If you’re in the mood for Turkish food that doesn’t mess around with portion sizes, Mama Fatma’s in Mississauga might just be your next go-to. I stopped by recently on a Saturday night with Matthew, and let’s just say we didn’t leave hungry.

Arriving Hungry? Good.

We got there just before 7 p.m., and while the place was buzzing, we were seated right away. When we left, there were people waiting in the lobby, so if you’re planning to go on a weekend evening, arriving a little early is a smart move.

Inside, the space is bright, open, and spacious. The only catch is that it’s a bit loud. It’s not the best setting for a cozy date night or deep conversation, but if you’re out with friends or family and ready to dig in, it works.

A Button for Service (Literally)

One thing I found impressive was how fast everything moved. Each table has a little button you can press when you’re ready to order or need something. No waving down a server or long waits. Someone shows up within seconds, which made the whole experience feel super efficient.

Just a heads-up: they don’t serve tap water. If you want something to drink, you’ll need to order bottled water, or juice. They had a variety of different juices.

Let the Feast Begin

We started with the Çoban Salad, which arrived just two minutes after we ordered. It was massive, fresh, and crisp, and easily enough for four people to share. A great way to kick things off.

Matthew ordered the Chicken Döner, and it was truly a mountain of food. Perfectly seasoned chicken piled high, served with rice, salad, and warm pita.

I had the Adana Kebab, which came with two large skewers of ground beef blended with lamb fat. Juicy, flavorful, and nicely charred. It was served with bulgur, salad, and pita tucked underneath the meat to soak up the drippings. One tip: be sure to ask for sauce on the side. They won’t bring it automatically, but it’s worth having.

Save Room for Dessert (If You Can)

Despite being completely stuffed, we split the Pistachio Kadayif with Ice Cream, and I’m so glad we did. The kadayif was crunchy and sweet, and the Turkish ice cream was something totally new for us.

Turkish ice cream is nothing like what you find at your average dessert shop. It has a stretchy, chewy texture and a rich, creamy flavor. It’s made with a thickening ingredient called salep, which gives it that unique consistency and makes every bite last a little longer. Paired with the crispy pistachio dessert, it was a great finish to the meal.

The Bottom Line

The bill came to about $90 CAD for two people, which felt completely reasonable considering the size and quality of the food. And yes, you will need a take-home box. Portions are huge and leftovers are practically guaranteed.

Would I go back? Absolutely. Would I bring a date? Probably not. It’s not an intimate vibe, but it is perfect if you want a lively meal with a lot of food and fast service. For bold flavors, quick turnaround, and enough food to keep you full until tomorrow, Mama Fatma’s in Mississauga is well worth the visit.
