If you’re a foodie, then Boston must be on your list of must-visit cities. This is where history and flavor come together to create unforgettable culinary experiences. Here are some of my recommendations for the city’s must-try dishes and foodie experiences that you don’t want to miss.

Boston’s iconic dishes you can’t miss
Boston’s food scene isn’t just about eating — it’s about experiencing the city’s heart and soul. From seafood shacks to historic ballparks, Boston offers a wide variety of classic, must-try dishes for any visitor. Here are just a few savory iconic dishes that capture the essence of the city.
The quintessential lobster roll
Lobster rolls are a quintessential New England dish, and I don’t care where you get one, but eat one you must! Served either cold with mayonnaise or warm with butter, these rolls showcase Boston’s fresh lobster. Saltie Girl in Back Bay offers a unique version, while Belle Isle Seafood in Winthrop serves an overstuffed roll with your choice of sides.
The all-American clam chowder
Boston clam chowder is another must-try when in Boston. It’s a creamy, comforting dish that’s perfect for any time of year. Atlantic Fish Co. in the Back Bay serves a traditional recipe that’s been a favorite for decades. For a modern twist, B&G Oysters in the South End adds spicy croutons and white wine to their chowder. Visiting Union Oyster House is also important to experience this historic dish.
Fenway Frank — a ballpark tradition
No visit to Boston is complete without trying a Fenway Frank at Fenway Park. These hot dogs, topped with mustard, relish and sauerkraut, are a key part of the ballpark experience, where history and tradition meet.
Sweet treats and dessert delights

Boston is a haven for dessert lovers, offering a delightful array of sweet treats that are sure to satisfy any craving. From historic favorites to modern twists, the city’s dessert scene is a must visit for anyone with a sweet tooth.
Boston cream pie

Boston cream pie is a beloved dessert with a rich history dating back to 1856 when it was created at the Parker House Hotel in Boston. This cake-like pie features layers of sponge cake filled with creamy custard and topped with a luscious chocolate glaze. It’s a true classic that has stood the test of time and remains a favorite among locals and visitors alike. For an authentic experience, try the Boston Cream Pie at Omni Parker House, where it all began.
Cannoli — North End’s sweet gem

You’re missing out if you visit Boston without indulging in cannoli from the historic North End. This Italian pastry is made with a crispy shell filled with sweet ricotta cheese, often garnished with chocolate chips or powdered sugar. Mike’s Pastry is a popular spot where you can find some of the best cannoli in the city. The combination of the flaky shell and creamy filling makes it a true delight for any dessert lover.
Must-try spots and unique foodie experiences
Boston is a food lover’s paradise, bursting with delicious surprises around every corner. Whether you’re exploring bustling food markets, joining a fun-filled food tour or getting your hands dirty in a cooking class, Boston has it all.
Food markets
Boston’s bustling markets are perfect for sampling fresh, locally sourced produce and artisanal goods. The Copley Square Farmers Market features fruits, vegetables and baked goods, while Quincy Market offers a historic setting for food lovers. Quincy Market is one of my all-time favorite foodie spots in the USA. It’s packed with vendors selling all kinds of tasty eats. Bring your wallet and dine like kings!
